Alberto Abate was born in Rome on March 16, 1946, to a family of artists of Catania origin : his father, is the sculptor Carmelo Abate, his uncle, Alessandro Abate, is a painter, watercolourist and fresco painter. In the 1950s, Abbot attended the local Institute of Art in Catania: his masters were the sculptor Domenico Tudisco and the painter Giuseppe Giuffrida.
