RIGHT SIDE – WRONG HEADED

The word brain was left off intentionally because this book cuts ones brain out of the equation.

The premise of Ms. Edwards notorious little book is that the Right-Side of our brain is not cluttered up with analytical, reasoning, decision-making functions, i.e., the thinking, creative stuff like the left-side is. (Never mind that the science behind this theory has been totally debunked by several credible recent studies)

Her process involves turning our eyes into a lens and turning our brains off so we can copy what the eye reflects without getting bogged down by constructive thinking.

‘Drawing From the Right-Side of the Brain’ is, in reality, rendering without using one’s brain. By functioning like a camera, which doesn’t have a mind; we can render photorealistic copies of what is before us. Accuracy is greatly overrated, it is not drawing, it is COPYING.

It is reflective plagiarism of nature which takes considerably longer than a photo. Mindless mimesis, via shape-aping, tonal-trancing, and retinal reflection is pointless. It has nothing to do with drawing or art. Louis Daguerre made this procedure obsolete in 1839 when he introduced the Daguerreotype. If that is not enough deception, there is a drawing by Leonardo on the cover. The novice is lead to believe they are going to learn how to draw like Leo, when, in fact, they will only learn to copy his work.

If that is not enough deception, there is also a drawing by Leonardo on the cover. Leading the novice to believe they are going to learn how to draw like Leo, when, in fact, they will only learn to copy his work.

Here is something that shortens the ‘unlearning’ curve and provide you with endless hours of enjoyment. The initial cost may be more, but the results are so much faster not to mention better. And of course, there is always your smartphone. And when people tell you your work looks like a photograph, it will be a photograph and not an insult about your tediously rendered facsimile of something.
